Cusco City Tour: Inca History & Archaeological Sites

Our tour begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Cusco approximately 15 minutes before your chosen time. Aboard our tourist transport, we will head towards the city’s main archaeological attractions to discover the history and legacy of the Inca Empire.Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun)Our first visit will be to the impressive Qoricancha, considered the most important temple of the Inca Empire and dedicated to the worship of the Sun God (Inti). Its finely carved stone walls formed the basis upon which the Spanish built the Convent of Santo Domingo, making it one of the finest examples of the fusion between Inca and colonial architecture. During the visit, we will learn about its history, its ceremonial spaces, and its importance within the Inca Empire.SacsayhuamanWe will continue to Sacsayhuaman, one of the most impressive constructions of Inca engineering. Its enormous stone blocks, perfectly assembled without the use of mortar, demonstrate the extraordinary architectural knowledge of this civilization. From this site, we will also enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the city of Cusco while learning about its military, ceremonial, and religious importance.QenqoOur next stop will be Qenqo, an important ceremonial center whose name means «labyrinth.» Here we will see passageways, canals, and altars carved directly into the rock, as well as underground galleries used during religious ceremonies. This site is notable for its close connection to rituals dedicated to nature and Andean deities.Puka PukaraThe tour continues to Puka Pukara, known as the «Red Fortress» due to the reddish hue its stones take on at sunset. This archaeological complex served as a control point, a lookout, and a resting place for those traveling to Cusco, in addition to being a strategic point on the Inca road network.TambomachayOur final visit will be to Tambomachay, considered an important sanctuary dedicated to the worship of water. Its fountains, canals, and aqueducts continue to function to this day, demonstrating the advanced hydraulic knowledge of the Incas. This place was used for religious ceremonies and as a resting place for the Inca nobility.At the end of the tour, we will return to the city of Cusco and transfer you to your hotel, thus concluding this experience full of history, culture, and ancient architecture.End of our services.
